Nomination for Safe Space Certificate

The Rainbow Community of Canada proudly invites members of the public to recommend and nominate outstanding community organizations, offices, and businesses for our Safe Space Certification Program offered completely free of charge.

We believe that inclusive leadership deserves recognition. Across Canada, there are individuals and organizations creating safer, affirming environments for 2SLGBTQIA+ communities. This program exists to recognize and uplift their work.


Who Can Be Nominated?

You may nominate:

Community Centres

Offices

Youth Organizations

Non-Profit Organizations

Small and Local Businesses

Legal, Health, and Social Service Providers

Educational Institutions

Entrepreneurs creating inclusive workplaces

Nominees must demonstrate a clear commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and the protection of 2SLGBTQIA+ individuals and allies.


About Our Safe Space Certification

Our Safe Space Certification is awarded based on:

The number of public votes received

The strength and validity of nomination applications

Demonstrated commitment to inclusive and affirming practices

Certification is granted only after careful review and verification of submitted applications. Not all nominations will automatically result in certification.

There is no fee to nominate or to receive certification.


What Does Certification Represent?

Certified recipients:

Publicly affirm their commitment to safe and inclusive spaces

Demonstrate leadership in equity and human rights

Support environments free from discrimination and harassment

Stand in solidarity with 2SLGBTQIA+ communities

Certification recipients may receive:

An Official Safe Space Certificate

Digital Safe Space Badge for websites and storefronts

Public recognition through Rainbow Community of Canada platforms


Nomination & Voting Process

1. Submit a nomination form with detailed information about the nominee’s impact.

2. Nominations are reviewed for eligibility and completeness.

3. Approved nominees are placed in the public voting cycle.

4. Certification is awarded based on vote totals and final application review.

Votes must be authentic and verifiable. The Rainbow Community of Canada reserves the right to remove fraudulent or duplicate voting activity.
